Alternatives in Home Care Getting older isn't easy...but it doesn't have to be hard. Home is a place of emotional and physical associations, memories and comfort. As a matter of fact, research has shown that people receiving home care tend to live longer and have a better quality of life. Alternatives in Home Care is a family owned and operated non-medical home care and geriatric care management agency. We are active proponents of the idea that aging does not mean helplessness. We believe that everyone has the right to grow, learn and enjoy life…regardless of age or health status. We always strive to identify and apply meaningful care philosophies and principles that improve the lives of Elders in our communities. Alternatives was founded and is led by a Certified Geriatric Care Manager with over 30 years of experience in social services. Why is this important? Geriatric Care Managers are considered experts in the field of senior care. They must meet stringent education, training and experience requirements. That's why they are able to recognize and address issues that may otherwise be overlooked. Our Customized In-Home Care Services include integrated Care Management - at no extra charge. Because we are committed to providing high quality in home care, all of our Caregivers are trained and supervised by an experienced Care Manager. Our Geriatric Care Managers (GCMs) are members of the Aging Life Care Association™ (formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers). The ALCATM is a recognized and respected lead organization of GCM practitioners. When clients turn to a professional member of the ALCATM, they can be assured that the practitioner has attained the education and experience required for membership and is required to adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Aging Life Care™ is a trademark of the Aging Life Care Association. Only ALCA members are authorized to use this term to identify their services.

Tips for Evaluating Your Options
Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Seniorsite Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:
Tour the location:
Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.
Confirm the availability of required services:
Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
Know the California regulations for living type:
Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you're considering.
