Home Helpers of Gainesville Finding the right caregiver for yourself or a loved one can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m Tom Kimmes and I own Home Helpers of Gainesville with my wife, Sara Galbraith. We opened this business because we realized there was a gap in caregiving options in this community and, with our backgrounds in business and long-term care, we realized we could fill that gap. At Home Helpers, we specialize in providing comprehensive home care for seniors, developmental disabilities, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. If managing medications is a challenge, we offer a complete medication management and adherence solution. Home Helpers also offers Direct Link, its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor with GPS locator and an automated medication dispenser. Our goal is to help families throughout the Gainesville, Braselton, Flowery Branch, Oakwood, and Dawsonville area care for their loved ones so they can focus on spending quality time together – not just being full-time caregivers. We both have grandmothers in long-term and assisted living, mostly because we couldn’t find the right in-home care options for them. For my grandmother, we were unable to find an agency in her area at all and, for Sara’s grandmother, we couldn’t find an agency that was reliable – they were often late or never showed up at all. We know, if we had been able to find the right in-home care solution, both of our grandmothers would have been happier to age in place in the comfort of their own homes. We want to make sure the families in the Gainesville area have a better in-home care option with Home Helpers. We are committed to carefully screening all of our caregivers and making sure each client is paired with the right compassionate caregiver. We will personally make sure every caregiver on our team is someone we would have trusted with our grandparents. Also, Sara is a licensed and registered dietitian and she has been working with doctors, nurses, dietary staff, and patients to assure proper nutritional needs are being met for patients every day. As a dietitian, Sara identifies factors that affect a person’s nutritional needs such as age, diagnoses, medications and weight changes. Sara and I both believe this nutritional assessment is even more important for seniors living at home. Often seniors living in their homes receive no nutritional advice from their doctors and that can potentially be very dangerous. Sara will bring this expertise and supervision to each and every client we serve. Each of our CNA’s will be trained and Sara will personally review our client’s dietetic needs on a regular basis. If the patient’s doctor needs to be notified, Sara is qualified to have the clinical conversation with the doctor so the proper results are achieved. Home Helpers offers free in-home consultations and we’ll work with you to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on your individual needs. Services offered include personal care such as grooming, bathing, ambulation, medication management and care management as well as respite care, meal preparation, nutrition guidance, light housekeeping, companionship, and transportation.
