History: Behind the Heart David was raised in a farming community by his grandmother where he developed a strong work ethic and passion for helping others. Because his family lacked access to quality health care growing up, David has long been inspired to provide others with the best possible health care that he can. David graduated from the Los Angeles Valley College nursing program as a registered nurse in 1994, starting as an ICU nurse at Grossmont Burn Center before moving into psychiatric, spinal cord and brain injury rehab. David has since accumulated over 20 years of health care industry experience and various accreditations. Most recently David worked as a clinical manager for a health insurance company doing utilization review and case management for many fortune 500 companies. Over the course of his career as a nurse health advocate, David has helped hundreds of families navigate health care benefits, health care services and achieve positive outcomes. David’s professional experience in administrative and clinical nursing provided him with the knowledge and understanding of the healthcare issues that today’s consumers face.
